Abstract
Background: Hypertension is a common health issue that carries the risk of serious
complications. Its management involves not only pharmacological therapy but also
non-pharmacological interventions, such as warm water foot soaking, which
promotes relaxation and vasodilation. Objective: To examine the delivery of family
nursing care through the implementation of warm water foot soaking therapy for a
patient with hypertension. Methods: This study employed a case study design
involving a single respondent, Mrs. S, in Pondok Labu Hamlet, Ajung, Jember
Regency. The intervention was conducted over five days, consisting of two 10–15
minute sessions daily. Data were collected through interviews, observation, and
blood pressure measurements taken before and after the intervention. Results: The
study demonstrated a reduction in blood pressure from 170/120 mmHg to 120/85
mmHg following the warm water foot soaking therapy. Conclusion: Warm water
foot soaking therapy is an effective non-pharmacological intervention for lowering
blood pressure in hypertensive patients and enhances the family's role in nursing
care.
